In March 2025, the budget airline Wizz Air plans to launch long-haul routes. One of them will be a flight to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
I would like to remind you that Wizz Air has been awarded the not-so-prestigious title of “Worst Airline in Europe” for the second year in a row by the consumer organization Which?. This “award” is primarily due to the rather modest onboard amenities, including seat comfort and the cabin atmosphere. This airline has the worst punctuality rates in Europe.
The main advantage of Wizz Air is the price. You only pay for the ticket, and all other services are purchased separately if you find them necessary. The company’s motto can be roughly described as “if you want to save money, endure the discomfort.”
On Wizz Air flights to the Middle East, just like on short routes in Europe, there will only be economy classes.
Where will Wizz Air fly?
The Hungarian company will begin flights from London (Gatwick) to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in March 2025.
In June 2025, the company will launch a route from Milan to Abu Dhabi.
The pricing policy will remain the same – prioritizing a low budget.
A one-way ticket from London to Jeddah will cost €160. All additional services – seat selection, luggage, priority boarding, or food – will need to be paid for separately.
This is half the standard price for flights on this route.
New Airbus A321 XLR aircraft, which have a maximum flight time extended from 6 to 8 hours, will be used on this route.
Wizz Air does not plan to fly across the Atlantic to the U.S. yet due to its inability to compete with the current carriers on this route. In the low-cost sector, the Irish budget airline Aer Lingus dominates.
