The Green Card is a coveted document that guarantees legal residency and the ability to work in the United States of America. The U.S. is the only country in the world that grants residency for free.
There are several ways to obtain a Green Card. Most of these methods are difficult or inaccessible to the majority of people.
The most democratic and easiest way to move to the U.S. is by winning the Green Card Lottery (DV Lottery), which is held annually by the U.S. government.
The application period for the annual Green Card Lottery in 2024 begins in early October, with the exact date being announced a few weeks before the lottery starts. The application period lasts until early November 2024, with the exact date being announced simultaneously with the start of the DV-2026 lottery.

Participation in the lottery is free.
The requirements for applicants are simple – at a minimum, a high school education or at least 2 years of work experience within the last 5 years. This means that practically any citizen over the age of 18 can participate in the lottery.
Winners are granted the opportunity to move to the U.S. and bring their families, including children under the age of 21.

No other websites exist for participating in the lottery. Recently, there have been many clone websites on the internet that aim to extort money.
This is the only way. There are no other methods.
Anyone can fill out the application. It’s important that you trust this person.
It is crucial to fill out the application correctly. Any mistake, even a grammatical error, typo, or inaccuracy, can result in your application being disqualified and not being included in the draw.

The official version of the rules and requirements for preparing the lottery application is considered to be only the English version. Versions of the rules and instructions translated into other languages, including those translated using Google Translate, are considered unofficial. This is explicitly stated on the U.S. State Department website.
How Are Lottery Winners Selected?
There are many conspiracy theories on the internet about different methods of selecting Green Card Lottery winners. All of them are fabrications and utter nonsense.
Winners are selected randomly – the selection is made by a computer through random sampling.
Winning the lottery does not automatically mean that you will receive a Green Card.
After winning the lottery, you will need to attend an interview to obtain an immigrant DV visa, which you will then exchange for a Green Card. Most people pass the interview.
During the interview, you will need to confirm your intentions to immigrate to the U.S. and explain what you plan to do and where you plan to live. The officer will be interested in your connections in the U.S. – relatives and acquaintances. The level of English proficiency is not important. You must have a confirmed amount of money for the initial period in the U.S. and a rough plan for finding a job.
All of this is manageable if you prepare properly.

Does Participating in the Lottery Affect Your Chances of Getting a U.S. Visa?
No, it doesn’t, although there are also many rumors about this online. People like to fantasize and spread fear. Don’t believe these rumors.
This is confirmed by my visa practice and U.S. law. Many who received a U.S. tourist visa also participated in the Green Card Lottery. Additionally, there are no questions about the lottery in the U.S. visa application form.
