A personal review of Lotus Therme Hotel & Spa in Hévíz, Hungary. Thermal pools, spa, food, rooms, and travel tips — when to go, what to pack, and who’ll love this hotel.
I’ve never been a fan of chasing hotel stars. For me, meaning matters more than status. Sometimes a humble guesthouse with hot water, Wi-Fi, and a view of the market can bring more joy than a soulless luxury five-star. But there are exceptions. Places that you don’t just visit — you feel them.
Lotus Therme Hotel & Spa in Hévíz is one of those places. Not just a place to stay near the lake, but an experience that enhances the entire trip. It’s the kind of hotel you come to on purpose. And don’t want to leave.

📍 Where is Lotus Therme Hotel & Spa located?
The hotel is just a 7-minute walk from the famous thermal lake of Hévíz. Surrounded by a quiet park, with a small stream nearby, it offers the perfect mix of privacy and accessibility. Not exactly downtown — but close enough to walk to the center and the lake every day. Which we did, and loved every step.
🧖♀️ What is Lotus Therme Hotel & Spa?
There are several high-class hotels in Hévíz, and we peeked into a few. But Lotus stood out. It’s not just a hotel — it’s a proper five-star resort and wellness complex with a calm, welcoming atmosphere and excellent spa options.
There are two pools — indoor and outdoor — connected together. It’s magical in winter: the air is crisp and cold, but you’re floating under the open sky in +31°C water. Inside? A bit cooler, around +26°C. Perfect for contrast therapy in the mornings.
You’ll also find three thermal pools filled with real Hévíz lake water at different temperatures. We didn’t spend much time in them (sitting still isn’t our thing), but wellness fans will appreciate it.
Evenings meant sauna rituals, hot tubs, steam rooms, and a cold beer at the bar. We weren’t alone — the Austrians seemed to follow the same exact routine. Respect.
Everything is connected with smooth transitions: from spa to your room, from bar to restaurant — effortless and pleasant. Speaking of which, let’s talk food.

🍽 Dining at Lotus Therme: less buffet, more fine dining
The hotel offers half-board: breakfast and dinner included, plus an afternoon tea break. Honestly, that was enough. A full-board option would’ve turned us into cute little spa buns.
The food was a delight. Every day felt like a visit to a new restaurant — no repeats, no filler dishes. The chef clearly cares. If you’re picky, maybe you’ll note the sparkling wine wasn’t from Champagne. But if that’s your biggest complaint… you’re doing just fine.

🛏 Rooms: the kind of comfort that works
We stayed in a standard double room with view, 26 sq. meters. It had everything we needed: a comfy big bed, a great shower, a balcony with a view, fast Wi-Fi, and a small desk for work. No complaints.
If you want more space and premium comfort — book the deluxe. You’ll thank yourself later.
💁♂️ Service: when things just work
On my personal Booking.com scale — a solid 10. The staff was responsive, friendly, and willing to help even when the request wasn’t strictly “by the book”.
Language wasn’t an issue: most staff speak English, and a couple — including a manager — spoke Russian too.
Bonus: bike rentals even in winter. As a cycling fan, that made my heart smile.

✅ Would I come back?
Absolutely. For me, a great hotel is one I genuinely want to return to — and Lotus makes that easy. You don’t just sleep here. You rest, recharge, breathe slower.
So yes — if we pass through Hungary again, you’ll know where to find us. Fingers crossed the beer stays the same, and the chef doesn’t leave.
