On September 12, 2023, Apple held its autumn event “Wonderlust,” during which they introduced the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 9, and Apple Watch Ultra 2. Apple took an hour and a half to present all the new devices.
The latest flagship smartphones from Apple are the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
What’s new in the iPhone?
These devices come with a range of new features, including a titanium frame, the A17 Pro chip, an action button, and much more. The new titanium casing has a matte finish, making the iPhone lighter than any previous Pro model while increasing durability. The frame has a contoured edge for a more comfortable grip. The side bezels around the display have also been significantly slimmed down.
Instead of the silent mode switch, a new action button has been added on the side. With a long press, users can switch between call and silent modes, receiving tactile feedback to indicate the change in status. Users can switch between various actions, allowing them to start recording voice notes, launch the camera, activate favorite accessibility functions, or run scripts.
The new devices are powered by Apple’s A17 Pro chip, featuring a six-core processor. It is 10% more powerful than the previous version, and in terms of graphics, it is 20% faster. Mobile gaming enthusiasts will certainly be pleased.
Cameras in the new iPhone 15
The iPhone 15 Pro has received significant camera upgrades. The primary camera now has a larger sensor, new coatings to reduce glare, and improved performance in low light conditions, allowing for stunning portraits in night mode. The smartphone’s camera offers new focal lengths, 24-megapixel resolution, and more.
The telephoto lens on the iPhone 15 Pro Max offers 5x optical zoom at a focal length of 180mm with a 25% larger sensor. This is combined with optical image stabilization and a 3D-shift focus module with autofocus. Apple claims that this is the most advanced stabilization system to date. The camera is equipped with the latest anti-reflective coating, improved night mode, and Smart HDR.
The iPhone 15 Pro, like the standard iPhone 15 models, features next-generation portrait mode, which automatically detects objects in the frame and allows for switching to portrait mode after capturing the shot. The iPhone’s camera introduces new focusing and depth control tools that allow users to adjust focus from one person to another after taking the shot.
Night mode has been improved, and Smart HDR enables the device to capture both the sky and the subject simultaneously.
Data Transfer in the New iPhones
The new lineup of iPhone models features a USB-C port for charging and data transfer. Data can now be transferred at speeds of up to 10 Gbps using a USB 3 cable. Users can instantly transfer 48 MP ProRaw photos to a Mac or record ProRes videos directly to an external drive. Higher-quality recording options are available for external drives, including support for 4K60 for the first time, as well as Log encoding.
New Features of the iPhone 15 Pro
The iPhone 15 Pro is equipped with Apple’s second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, allowing other devices with the same chip to connect from three times the distance. Additionally, friends who share their location with you can be pinpointed directionally, similar to AirTags.
The devices also support Wi-Fi 6E, wireless Qi2 charging, and Thread, opening up new possibilities for integration with home applications.
Emergency SOS now allows you to connect to a satellite for roadside assistance.
Call audio quality has been enhanced through a more advanced machine learning model that prioritizes your voice.
